FAQ

How much do you charge?

I charge per page or per service. I give individual quotes based on the complexity and how long I think it will take me to complete. If you'd like to get a quote for your children's book, then feel free to drop me an email with the details of your story.

Do you do work for exposure?

No, unfortunately I can’t guarantee on exposure to pay my bills so wont accept offers of increased followers or gifts in the exchange for my time and skills.

How long does it take for you to complete a children’s book?

The amount of time it takes me depends on a lot of factors. If the book has a lot of characters or requires more detail, then the turnaround time will be considerably longer. I aim to finish a book in around 1 1/2 - 2 months depending on how many projects I’m working on at the same time. If you have a deadline in mind please let me know and I can see if it would be achievable.

I’m looking for an illustrator, will you illustrate my book?

If you have looked through my portfolio and think my style would suit your story, send me an email with some details about your project and I'll get back to you. I'm happy to work with self-publishing authors as well as publishers.

I’m looking for an illustrator but I’m not sure if your style is right for my story, do you offer samples?

Yes, I do offer samples. I charge a flat fee for a colour character design sheet which includes a character of your choice with a few expressions. If you decided to choose me as your illustrator for the rest of your project after paying for a sample, I will deduct that price from the new quote.

I'm new to self-publishing, where do I start?

It can be daunting when you first decide to enter the world of children’s book publishing, but it doesn’t have to be. I have a range of knowledge which isn’t limited to just the illustration side of things, so if you are unsure of anything i'll be here to help. I can also publish your book for you on Amazon and/or Ingram Spark for an additional fee.

What do you use to create your illustrations?

All my artwork is hand drawn by me using Adobe Photoshop.

What are your inspirations?

One of my biggest inspirations is nature, growing up I always had an interest in wildlife and was lucky enough to live in a small town surrounded by fields. We also had a lot of pets ranging from rabbits, guinea pigs (at one point we had a total of 9), chickens, dogs, and fish so it’s always been a big part of my life. I believe this has led to my love of drawing animals and a desire to bring happiness to children with my creations.

Do you still do any animation work?

Unfortunately, due to my work schedule I no longer do or take on any animation projects. My main focus is illustration, so I don’t have an up-to-date showreel of recent work.

Can I share your artwork?

I’m happy for you to share my work via social media but I would kindly ask that you don’t save and share images from my website without permission. A lot of the work I share are illustrations created for clients so unless you have commissioned the images from me yourself then I would prefer you to contact me or the client before sharing.

I saw your artwork being posted by another illustrator claiming its theirs, what should I do?

If you see any of my artwork being posted by someone with a different name, please let me know immediately and report the person. I will only post my artwork on my website or on Instagram (@charlotte_illustration) so if someone is using my artwork and claiming it's theirs, chances are they have stolen it and won't be able to provide the same service as me.
